Condition: no cash prizes in open divisions with fewer than 4 registered athletes (medals are awarded). Applies to all open divisions – Men Lightweight, Heavyweight and Women Open. The organiser reserves the right to merge Women Lightweight and Heavyweight into one open division if either has fewer than 4 registrations.

Athletes over their registered weight move to a higher weight division.
Final brackets are made after the weigh-in on competition day.

Uniform

GI and NO-GI rules

GI

Allowed colours: white, blue and black.
The GI must meet JJIF rules.

NO-GI

Rash guard: tight, short or long sleeves, any colour.
Shorts: athletic, no zippers or buttons, mid-thigh to above the knee, pockets sewn shut.
Leggings: plain black, not below the ankle or over the foot.
Hair tied with a soft band; elastic underwear.

Rules

The competition follows the JJIF Jiu-Jitsu Rules. Scoring, penalties and allowed techniques by age and belt are in the official rules. The Pro division follows the black belt rules.

At least 5 minutes rest between an athlete's matches, 10 minutes before a medal match.

One division per athlete

An athlete enters only one age division and one weight division per discipline.
Age goes by year of birth. For Adults the athlete must be 18 on the day of the competition.
Judo black belts, and athletes with wrestling or MMA competition experience, cannot enter white belt divisions.

Attire and conduct under JJIF

Female athletes in GI divisions wear a mostly white or mostly black rash guard under the jacket.
Nails trimmed short; footwear outside the mat. Braces may be removed for the weigh-in but must be worn at the attire check.
One coach per athlete at the mat, seated, no phones or filming; in the team tracksuit, smart dress for finals; no hats.
The athlete may not talk to the coach during the match.

Draw and format

Draw

The draw is made without coaches present.
Clubs with three or more athletes in one division name two athletes to be separated in the draw, by writing to info@black-dragon.hr.
Depending on entries, the organiser chooses single or double elimination.
The competition follows the JJIF Jiu-Jitsu Rules, version 2.8.1.
All athletes compete at their own risk.
Participants consent to data processing, recording of matches, live streaming and publication of results (GDPR).
